The Forum acts as the voice of the local community within the DA17 area. It is one of a small number of charities operating in the London Borough of Bexley who have the principal aim of supporting community cohesion, regeneration and improvements to a specific geographic area.
The Forum was created by the London Borough of Bexley in 1999 using Single Regeneration Budget Funds, with its first management committee being set up in February 2000. The council’s aim in setting up the Forum was to create an organisation which aided decision making, campaigned for regeneration and promoted community cohesion within the DA17 postcode.
While some of the Forums, set up by the Council under the SRB funding streams, have not succeeded or have met irregularly, the Belvedere Community Forum has a record of working successfully to fulfil its objectives. Over the last twelve years, the Forum has held over 50 community meetings to consult local residents, traders and community groups on issues affecting our area. We have held summer fun days, musical events for older residents, Halloween & Christmas parties for local children, a zero waste conference, Christmas events in local shopping areas, sports taster events and other ad hoc community events
The forum is run by a board of local residents
